Flood of emotions...

Last night I made my first trip back to the floor I was on as a patient in the Huntsman Cancer Hosptial. It has been almost eighteen months since I was a patient there and I experienced a flood of emotions I didn't expect; these emotions were so strong I was brought to tears.

When asked what I felt, it was difficult to put into words. I was asked if I was scared? No; that was not even an emotion I felt the morning I went in for surgery. I learned when Amy was on her mission to New York that if I was afraid, I did not have faith. Knowing the Lord knows best, I trusted in Him completely.

I felt overwhelming gratitude that I am cancer free, humility that the Lord watched over me, comforted me and wrapped me in his protective arms. I felt a little helplessness, knowing my life here on earth was in the hands of the Dr. and nurses. I was watched over by my Savior...so I knew that whatever happened, I'd be okay. I felt gratitude for my family and friends who supported me and prayed for me; EVERY prayer was heard and answered.

I am deeply grateful.

A thought...

I don't believe in micromanaging...it dulls the soul, takes away the spirit of teamwork and kills morale.

Teach them correct principles and let them govern themselves. Joseph Smith, Jr.

Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. General George S. Patton, Jr.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TIM!

Tim and I were married 38 years ago today. We met while attending CCH---Church College of Hawaii...what a romantic place to find a handsome man!!! Five fabulous children, a great son-in-law, two wonderful daughters-in-law and two perfect grandchildren later we are still together--my mother said it would never last and almost demanded that I not marry him. (There was someone else I had dated before Tim she wanted me to marry.) She wouldn't give us a reception and we kind of "eloped" to the SL Temple--she came but wasn't very happy about being there.

We have lived in SLC, Provo, Phoenix, North Olmstead, OH, Bay Village, OH, Lexington, KY, Westlake, OH, and back to SLC.

I cannot believed we have traveled to so many countries...too many to name...but I will mention my favorites: Peru, China, Thailand, Tahiti and Canada to visit my relatives.

I've supported him through: school...U of U, BYU, and Thunderbird. Jobs-- Hanna, Old Ben, Geneva...and some we'd like to forget, PLUS... starting his own business. Kidney stones and the times we packed up the family and moved. Tim served many times as a counselor--6 or 7... in the bishopric at church, and in Young Men, Cub Master, scouts, stake callings like executive secretary and YM, Elders and High Priests--to name a few.

He has supported me: through 6 pregnancies, 1 miscarriage, having Alison die, cancer, PTA pres., city-wide fundraiser for the Westlake schools, room mother probably more than a dozen times, working for a law firm, chocolate store, two Governors, UESP and higher ed, serving in every auxiliary in our church....Primary Pres...twice, cub master, YW Pres. Ward and Stake RS Pres., teaching Sunday School with Tim, and now YW Pres. again--to name a few.

I could have been a better wife and mother, he could have been a better husband and father... but we're still working on these together. We're pretty good grandparents to Jack and Sadie. Through all the trials in life, we've been so blessed.

Tim, Happy 38th Anniversary; I love you.

Peg

Ya know....

I never thought anything would come close to hearing my own children say Mama or Mom. Having Jack call me "Grandma" warms my heart every time he says it. To have Tim help him brush his teeth, say his prayers and tuck him into his "Cars" tent tonight touched my heart.

Sadie is such a sweetheart. She's mellow, yet very observant and has the sweetest smile you've ever seen. I'm anxious to see what she's like when she's Jack's age, but I am enjoying this time with her too.

WOW, WE ARE GRANDPARENTS!!!

I KNOW, I KNOW...

...it's been three months since I updated this blog.

A lot has happened...a wonderful trip to NY--which included eating breakfast at Bubby's (OH YUM! WHAT A WONDERFUL BREAKFAST IT WAS! The blueberry muffin was to die for... and we found out that the owner is from Utah.) We also ate at Junior's Cheesecake and the Italian street fair and visited most of the touristy sites, including ground zero. Then we boarded a cruise ship and cruised up the coast to Nova Scotia, Canada, St. John, Canada, Bar Harbor, Maine, New Port Beach and Boston. I saw many of my relatives in Canada...thanks to all of you for spending the day with us! In Maine, we ate lunch with my sister, Martha, who lives there...thanks to you Marth for driving to meet us in Bar Harbor.

We celebrated my one year anniversary of being cancer-free in Boston with Boston Creme Pie! YUM! Thanks Amy, Mary and Lis for your long trip to buy the best in Boston!

Would you please visit the following website and watch my son, Andrew's entry into a contest. He took 5th in the first phase and now there is the "most viewed" phase... view it and it counts towards him winning more $! THANKS!
